Mon: Rest.
Tues: Was going to drive up to the Piedmont High Track, but opted to do intervals around the Lake instead. 3x800m with 400m rest. Wanted to do 4, but 3 is a start!
Stats: 3 miles @ 9:30/mile
400m intervals: 4:09, 4:09, 4:08 (I’m nothing if not consistent.)
Wed: Leisurely trail run at Joaquin Miller Park. It was so nice to run here without the pressure of a race! The Gypsy Runner fell back in love with running in his new Vibram Five Finger Sprints, and we both fell in love with the Sequoia-Bayview Trail — gentle hills, shaded, and pine-covered softness.
Stats: 3.76 miles @ 12:54/mile

On the Sequoia-Bayview Trail at Joaquin Miller. The Gypsy Runner is so fast that he’s a blur!
Thurs: Rest.
Fri: KH came to my work in Alameda and we ran an easy loop down Central Ave and around the Shoreline. It was wonderful to catch up and explore a new running route together!
Stats: 4.57 miles @ 9:50/mile
Sat: No running, but the Gypsy Runner and I volunteered at the Brazen Dirty Dozen Race from 5:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. I’ll be writing a post about this shortly, as a different kind of “race recap!”
Sun: I was going to run around Lake Chabot (~9 miles), but cut it to 5 miles for a number of reasons. I forgot my Garmin, so I can’t tell you anything exact about my distance, elevation, or pace, but one thing I can say is that I really enjoyed my run! I ended up running part of the same course as the Brazen Bad Bass 5K that I ran last July. I felt strong and fast as I finished my run, so it makes it a little bittersweet to know that I won’t be able to run the Brazen Bad Bass 5K again this year. I’m fairly certain that I would crush my time from last year.
Stats: 5-5.5 miles @ 9:49-10:48/mile
WEEKLY TOTAL: ~16.5 miles
How I feel about it: Pretty fun week, with a good mix of speed and hills. A-
