Weekly training recap: 7/9/12

This will be my last weekly recap for a while. I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and will be gone for 3 weeks. After I return, the “weekly recap” series will morph into the “marathon training” series. I can’t wait!!

Mon: Rest.

Tues: Lake Merritt + Mandana/hills. Significant improvement over the last time I ran this loop 2 weeks ago. I was very pleased with my progress. 🙂 (See chart for details.)
Stats: 6.2 miles @ 10:20/mile

This week’s run on the left; 2 weeks ago on the right.

Wed: Rest.

Thurs:  Pre-race short run. I wanted to run by feel (exertion level = easy), and again, I was pleased to see that my “easy” level has improved to about 9:50 overall pace, down from 20 seconds over the last couple of months. It’s so encouraging to see these small, yet significant markers of progress!
Stats: 3.2 miles @ 9:50/mile

Fri: Rest.

Sat: Golden Gate Trail Run at Rodeo Beach (Marin). Tough climb in the beginning, but ended up being a great, fun race. Recap coming soon!
Stats: 4.9 miles @ 11:05/mile

Sun: Rest.

WEEKLY TOTAL: 14.3 miles
How I feel about it: Lots of progress this week… leaving for vacation on a high note. A

Awesome job! That trail run looks awesome, I might have to do that next year.
