The official marathon photos from CIM are up!
The good news:
- I actually look like I’m running in all of them (i.e., one foot is off the ground at all times).
- I don’t look like death.
- I don’t look like I’m about to throw up.
- I’m not being obstructed by anyone.
- A few feature AEW, my pacer for miles 20.5-25.5.
- Good finisher photo with medal in hand.
The bad news:
- The photos from the course were taken from a high angle, meaning you can hardly see my face from under my cap.
- I must’ve thought that they were taking the pictures earlier than they actually did; I recall posing for the photos, but this is not evident at all.
- Related to the last point: no triumphant pose at the end. Bummer.
I might actually get one or several of these. They’re not terribly expensive, but I feel like a schmuck because, until now, I thought that only schmucks pay so much money for “official race photos.”
Without further ado, the photos!
UPDATE 12/14/12: I am officially a schmuck because I bought 3 of the photos (well, technically, the Gypsy Runner bought them for me as an early Christmas present. Isn’t he sweet??) The ones I got are posted below, without copyright tags stamped all over them.
I’m curious: have you ever paid for official race photos?
Awesome pics! Mine always look like I’m not moving! Anyway, to answer your question.. I have not paid for a photo yet… BUT… if one from my first marathon actually comes out ok, I’m going to have to buy one 🙂 Congrats again!
Thanks, Jeff! Yeah, my past race pictures have been a mixed bag. These were easier to pose for since the cameramen (and women) were standing on tall step stools — it was impossible to miss them. I wish you best of luck on your first marathon and good marathon photos too!
I never have…but I never looked as good as you do in these. You look GOOD.
Thanks lady! 😉
I’ve paid for three. One from the London marathon, one from Bay to Breakers 2011 which was one of my best photos EVER and one from Healdsburg this year where I look happy and not too short! I have no qualms about buying them as long as they’re good! I say do it. I particularly like the one of you and AEW!!! And the finish one. You’ll only do your first marathon once.
Thanks for the input, especially since I’m having a hard time deciding which one(s) to get. By the finish one, do you mean the one of me running or the one of me with the medal?
I vote for 2,3, and 5. By the way, check this out: http://jacksonholemarathon.com/schedule-of-events/
Just think about it…
I’ll definitely consider it! Lots of positive reviews on Marathon Guide: http://www.marathonguide.com/races/racedetails.cfm?MIDD=4147120923
