Felt super lazy this week, which caught up to me today for the Lake Chabot Trail Challenge.
Mon: Easy 3 miles in Redwood Regional with the Gypsy Runner, mostly to try out my new shoes. Unfortunately, they were a bit too small — my 2nd toe kept hitting the front of the shoe, even though there seemed to be plenty of room in there. Otherwise, I really liked them!
Stats: 3.0 miles @ 11:22/mile
Tues: Rest.
Wed: Was going to go for a run, but could not get out of bed.
Thurs: Rest.
Fri: Easy pre-race 3 miler that was not as easy as it should’ve been. I took it as a yellow flag (not quite red) for race performance on Sunday. Took the new shoes out for another spin and confirmed that they are too small. I’m taking them back to the store Tuesday and really hoping that 1/2 size larger will work.
Stats: 3.2 miles @ 10:05/mile
Sat: Rest, though I did a lot of spring cleaning. According to all of the lady mags, that totally counts as exercise!
Sun: Lake Chabot Trail Challenge. Wow, what a tough, tough race. I have so many feelings about it… which I’ll expand upon in the race recap, coming soon.
Stats (unofficial results): 13.1 miles, 2:48:xx (12:49/mile).
WEEKLY TOTAL: 19.3 miles.
How I feel about it: Not a great week, training-wise or race-wise. Pretty disappointed with my performance this week, but I did run my first trail half marathon. C+
Trail races are hard core! I ran a 10K at Lake Chabot last summer and those hills are no joke. That is a huge accomplishment!
Thanks. I appreciate the encouraging words.
